Issue description
Is it now agreed to use SFML? Which version? I'd really like to start some serious OpenGL porting as my crappy Intel chipset doesn't cope well with wine …
Steps to reproduce this issue

I have Intel on my netbook too. I am not 100% sure, but I think they decided not to use SFML. But small Unicode conversion part was merged into game code. You can ask in: arxfatalis at irc.freenode.net for more info ;)

We ended up not using SFML as it was completely reliant on OpenGL. Not a good porting path for us.

So which one is favoured now? Irrlicht? Ogre?

We haven't decided on a framework yet, but there was some agreement about SDL. Anyway, BobJelly started to add a Renderer class (in the freetype branch only so far) to abstract away some d3d-specific code.

PS: I also have a 'crappy intel chipset' on my laptop and arx (especially the freetype branch) runs fine with OffscreebRenderingMode set to backbuffer (see http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys)
