Issue description
I have GOG version installed and playing with an integrated graphic card Intel with latest Direct x 9.0c installed

The GOG runs fine but after installing Arx libertatis and initiating arx.exe the screen flashes for a second with a black window titled Arx Libertatis 1.0.3 comes up and exits immediately.

Some things I noticed by inspecting on the issue:
  1. It sets antialiasing=true by default (on integrated chip it won't run)
  2. I cannot locate any entry to know which driver Arx Libertatis is using, namely, OpenGL or Direct3D. If I can locate it than it's possible to see and change the driver for a trial.
  3. By default Arx.exe opens (or sets) the resolution to maximum supported by monitor AND not the current resolution my monitor is set.
Example: Max resolution is 1366x768 but I use 1024x768 normally. Arx.exe directly opens up with 1366x768. No success in changing resolution in config as well.

Request help to this issue and to start the game. thx!

Steps to reproduce this issue
Nothing entered.

Hi,

sorry for the late reply.

The GOG runs fine but after installing Arx libertatis and initiating arx.exe the screen flashes for a second with a black window titled Arx Libertatis 1.0.3 comes up and exits immediately.

Can you please attach your arx.log file (Actions -> Attach a file). It's located in %USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Games\Arx Libertatis for Windows XP an in %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Arx Libertatis for Vista and later.

1. It sets antialiasing=true by default (on integrated chip it won't run)

That should not be a problem as that setting is ignored if not supported by the card.

2. I cannot locate any entry to know which driver Arx Libertatis is using, namely, OpenGL or Direct3D. If I can locate it than it's possible to see and change the driver for a trial.

In cfg.ini under [window] set framework="SDL" for OpenGL and or framework="D3D9" for Direct3D.

The default value (auto) currently selects D3D9 under Windows. However, if either fails to initialize, the other one is also tried.

3. By default Arx.exe opens (or sets) the resolution to maximum supported by monitor AND not the current resolution my monitor is set.

I agree that the desktop resolution is a better choice. I've created a separate request for this: Enhancement 449 - The default resolution should be the desktop mode, not the largest one available

Closing because there has been no response from the reporter.

1.1 will ensure a minimum requested size and use SDL+OpenGL by default, so this problem is likely fixed already.

The issue was updated with the following change(s):
  • The status has been updated, from New to Not a bug.
  • This issue has been closed
  • The resolution has been updated, from Not determined to CAN'T REPRODUCE.
