Issue description
The problem seems to be similar to Bug report 348 - install-cd script fails with Bundle Version, but I am using the CD of a French version I bought some years ago. I am using the Arx Libertatis installation script 1.21 in openSUSE 12.3. The installation script seems to successfully unpack the files of the CD, then stops with this message (where /home/thomas/Téléchargements/arx/ is the directory in which I put all the files copied from the CD):

cabextract: Extracting cabinet: /home/thomas/Téléchargements/arx/_14891~1.cab
  extracting _753585C7DB13443B95809286AB80746C

All done, no errors.

Detecting data language... Detecting data language... speech*.pak not found
Steps to reproduce this issue
1. launch the Arx Libertatis installation script : arx-installation-data 2. answer the various question to use the file from the given directory and install them in the default directory

I just tried with the last version of the installation script (v1.1.1), and it still does not find speech*.pak

  Extracting /home/thomas/Téléchargements/arx/_14891~1.cab using bsdtar
  x _753585C7DB13443B95809286AB80746C

  Detecting data language...
  speech*.pak not found

Hm, those filenames (_14891~1.cab and _753585C7DB13443B95809286AB80746C) look suspicious.

The contents of the (well, the one I have at least) English CDROM look like this:

  1. $ tree
  2. .
  3. |-- Athena.dll
  4. |-- autorun
  5. | |-- Arx.ttf
  6. | |-- Autorun.ico
  7. | |-- readme_English.txt
  8. | |-- redist
  9. | | |-- DX81_english.exe
  10. | | |-- DX81NT_english.exe
  11. | | `-- EAXUnified.exe
  12. | |-- setup.ini
  13. | `-- SFX.pak
  14. |-- Autorun.exe
  15. |-- AUTORUN.INF
  16. |-- bin
  17. | |-- Arkane Studios Internet.url
  18. | |-- arx.exe
  19. | |-- Arx Fatalis Internet.url
  20. | |-- Arx.ttf
  21. | |-- Athena.dll
  22. | |-- data2.pak
  23. | |-- JoWood Internet.url
  24. | |-- LOC.pak
  25. | `-- logo.avi
  26. |-- instmsi.exe
  27. |-- instmsiw.exe
  28. |-- setup1.cab
  29. |-- setup2.cab
  30. |-- setup3.cab
  31. |-- setup.exe
  32. |-- setup.ini
  33. `-- setup.msi
  34.
  35. 3 directories, 28 files
  1. $ file *.cab
  2. setup1.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 238130369 bytes, 1 file
  3. setup2.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 34311331 bytes, 1 file
  4. setup3.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 269441151 bytes, 1 file

and for my German CDROM:
  1. $ tree
  2. .
  3. |-- Acrobat
  4. | `-- ar505deu.exe
  5. |-- Athena.dll
  6. |-- autorun
  7. | |-- Arx.ttf
  8. | |-- Autorun.ico
  9. | |-- readme_Deutsch.txt
  10. | |-- redist
  11. | | |-- DX81_deutsch.exe
  12. | | |-- DX81NT_deutsch.exe
  13. | | `-- EAXUnified.exe
  14. | |-- setup.ini
  15. | `-- SFX.pak
  16. |-- Autorun.exe
  17. |-- AUTORUN.INF
  18. |-- bin
  19. | |-- Arkane Studios Internet.url
  20. | |-- ARX.exe
  21. | |-- Arx Fatalis Internet.url
  22. | |-- Arx.ttf
  23. | |-- Athena.dll
  24. | |-- data2.pak
  25. | |-- JoWood Internet.url
  26. | |-- LOC.pak
  27. | `-- logo.avi
  28. |-- Handbuch
  29. | `-- arx_handbuch.pdf
  30. |-- instmsi.exe
  31. |-- instmsiw.exe
  32. |-- Setup1.cab
  33. |-- Setup2.cab
  34. |-- Setup3.cab
  35. |-- Setup_Deutsch.msi
  36. |-- Setup.exe
  37. |-- Setup.ini
  38. `-- Setup.msi
  39.
  40. 5 directories, 31 files
  1. $ file *.cab
  2. Setup1.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 238123247 bytes, 1 file
  3. Setup2.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 34311331 bytes, 1 file
  4. Setup3.cab: Microsoft Cabinet archive data, 268146423 bytes, 1 file

In both cases, speech.pak is in one of the .cab files. Was does your disk layout look like? Can you try manually extracting the files?

Also, please attach the *full* log output.

You could also try installing cabextract, unshield and/or 7-zip and the run the install script as
  1. arx-install-data --disable-bsdtar
to see if this is a bsdtar bug.

If that helps please post the full log output of the working run as well as the output of
  1. bsdtar --version

We can't fix this without having access to the disk or at least knowing the disk layout.
